Having just moved from Canada, married couple Dr. David Berg and Dr. Janice Johnston opened the first Arrowhead Health Center in Glendale, AZ, specializing in Primary Care and Chiropractic services. By paying close attention to their patients’ needs, Dr. Berg and Johnston made improvements uncommon in most clinics, like collecting copays after visits, prime parking for patients, fifteen-minute wait times and more.
Arrowhead Health Centers added a range of family physicians, physical therapists, pain management physicians, and more to ensure their member’s needs were met.
At the same time, Dr. Berg and Johnston begin developing the strategy that would later become Redirect Health. Their new strategy meant completely reimagining healthcare by separating it from health insurance. The plan? Focus on three core items: Delivering care, getting a fair price for care, and finding the most cost-effective way to pay for it.
Created and implemented the Redirect Health Strategy for our own employees.
Arrowhead Health Centers is also awarded the coveted NCQA Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home. The reward is designated for facilities that demonstrate excellence in provider/patient care.
New ideas gave rise to a new mission: reimagining the healthcare industry by providing truly affordable care. Through technology and their passion for care, Redirect Health offers an end-to-end healthcare journey that puts people before profits.
Redirect Health’s popularity begins to take off. The company expands its reach to service the entirety of Arizona’s largest county (and the 4th populous county in the United States).
With the success of Redirect Health’s affordable take on healthcare, it was time to take their mission beyond Arizona. Branching out to these states marked the first big step to providing reimagined healthcare to everyone within the United States.
By combining Redirect Health with the quality care already established at Arrowhead Medical Centers, Redirect Health’s leadership aimed to provide a greater level of comprehensive, integrated care.
The TPA license allows Redirect Health to better process employee benefits and administer top-level care to members within Arizona. This allowed the company to move money fast – including provider claims and broker commissions.
Redirect Health was now able to accomplish their mission on a national scale, providing affordable care to the entire country. With medical licenses in all 50 states, they acquired the unique ability to get in front of big and small claims BEFORE they happen. To mark this achievement, Redirect Health and Arrowhead Medical Centers merged as one parent company.
